Haunted History of the Mineral Springs Hotel
The Mineral Springs Hotel opened in 1914. The legends of the place say that three very different ghosts haunt the corridors and rooms of the Mineral Springs. The first is said to be that of an itinerant artist who was unable to pay his hotel bill many years ago. His ghost apparently haunts the former hotel bar. One evening, there was a large reception held at the Mineral Springs and people were gathered in the pool area for the party. One of the couples attending the event had an apparently volatile relationship, probably because the husband had quite an eye for the ladies. Throughout the evening, he flirted and danced with a number of young women until his wife could stand it no longer. In a fit of anger, she came over and started shouting accusations at him. Laughing, he attempted to just brush away her concerns but finally, she took off her shoe and smashed him in the face with the heel of it. Blood spurted out between the fingers of the hand that he pressed to his face and he stumbled over, colliding with one of the columns next to the pool. Stunned, he reeled and tumbled over into the water. Before anyone realized what was going on, the man had slipped beneath the water and had drowned. In the years after the tragic event, the man began to be seen standing near the side of the pool, or in other lower parts of the building. His ghost has been described as angry and brooding, but impeccably dressed in black tie and tails. And he has is said to have a reason for staying behind here.... revenge. The most famous ghost of the Mineral Springs is the legendary Jasmine Lady. The accounts say that she has haunted a particular part of the old hotel for years. This area is a staircase that is located a short distance from the former lobby. According to the hotel legend, this lady was once a guest at the hotel who had come here to take in the healing waters with her husband. While she was here, she became involved romantically with another guest and started an affair with him. Her husband returned unexpectedly and caught the adulterous couple in the act. n the course of the violent encounter, she ran away from him and started down the steps. The stories vary as to whether the woman may have tripped on the stairs or whether her angry spouse pushed her down the staircase. In the end, it didnt matter, because somehow she fell and broke her neck and she was instantly killed. http://www.prairieghosts.com/min_springs.html

A female investigator felt as if something was brushing her arm on 2 separate occasions in the pool room. A female investigator felt a burning sensation on the back of her leg as if something had scratched her.
PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE:
A photograph of an orb that seemed to be emitting its own light was captured in the basement pool, as well as an image of a little girl at the bottom right of the staircase. See photo evidence for review.
VIDEO EVIDENCE:
A Franks Box session revealed direct communication with investigators. See video evidence clip for review.
EVP EVIDENCE:
The sound of a female exhaling was captured in the bar room while 2 investigators were performing an EVP session. See audio evidence for review. The sound of a whistle was heard by 2 investigators while conducting an EVP session in the basement pool. See audio evidence for review.
OTHER EVIDENCE:
KII meter, Electrosmog meter, and Ghost meter fluctuations were noted in the bar as well as the basement pool room. These seemed to be in direct communication with the investigators.

Photo Evidence
This photograph was taken in the Men's pool area. Reports that a little girl drowned here have been documented. In this photo, an orb that seems to be emitting its own light was captured, as well as an image of a little girl at the bottom right of the staircase. After careful review of this photo. It is the overall opinion of the group that the image of the little girl is simply matirixing and not an acutal image. The orb however, is not consistent with dust or a bug. This is unexplained.

Haunted History at the McPike Mansion
Built in 1869, architect Lucas Pfeiffenberger crafted a home with sixteen rooms, a vaulted wine cellar, eleven marble fireplaces and beautifully carved banisters in Alton, Illinois. McPike Mansion was home to Henry Guest McPike and his family. A famed horticulturist, he perfect the McPike Grape and became well known across the country.
It is believed the McPike family lived in the mansion up until 1936. Although there may be some discrepancies with the dates. Records state Paul a. Laichinger owned and lived in the house between 1908-1930. Either way, it has been unoccupied since 1950s. The current owners Sharyn and George Luedke bought it at an auction in 1994. They are in the process of restoring it to its former beauty.
There have been many stories told about McPike Mansion. Though some believe a whole army of spirits haunt the place only two have supposedly been identified. One is a female servant of the McPikes which Sharyn has dubbed "Sarah". "Sarah" has been described as the friendly sort, touches and sometimes hugs guests at the mansion. The other spirit is believed to be that of Paul Laichinger. Sharyn has claim to have seen him wearing a striped shirt and tie. She possesses a photograph of Laichinger wearing the same thing.

Evidence
Personal Experiences:
Judy heard a moaning sound as she and 2 other investigators headed towards the basement side room. This was not picked up on the audio or video equipment. A mist was seen forming in the cellar as investigators were watching the DVR monitor. Jeanne & Michael Griffon took temperature readings in all rooms in the basement. Only a 2-degree temperature change was noted. No wind was present. All investigators witnessed direct responses to questions asked while using a Franks Box. This was captured on video. See evidence for review.
Photographic Evidence:
No Photo evidence captured.
Video Evidence:
Mist formations in the cellar were captured on video. Franks Box session communication in the cellar was captured on video. Shadow movement and object manipulation was captured on video in a basement side room. It is confirmed that no investigators were in this area at the time.
Audio Evidence:
No Audio evidence captured.
Other Evidence:
No EMF or temperature fluctuations were noted.

Conclusion
Due to the abundance of unexplained video evidence captured, it is the opinion of PRIOM that the McPike Mansion has the presence of an intelligent haunting. An intelligent haunting is able to interact with the environment. Direct verbal communication with the Franks Box, the mist dissipating instantly as investigators approached, and the ability to move objects are evidence of this type of haunting.
